Error description

  • When an IMS restart is detected in IMS log processing IMS PA
forces an end-of-data (EOD) condition which triggers reporting
of transactions processed up to that point. As part of the EOD
processing the Transit Engine clears its internal queues, but
they are not terminated, simply re-used. In the case of
MODE=MULT transactions, certain artifacts could be left on the
queue(s), in particular those associated with the
Unit-of-Recovery (or Rectoken). If the Rectoken was reused after
an IMS restart, the existing queue element would be invalid and
its use can cause unpredictable results (including ABENDS0C4).
                                                               S0C4

Problem conclusion

  • When an IMS Restart is detected, this information is passed to
the IMS PA Transit Engine as part of its EOD processing. On
completion of the EOD process, the Transit Engine terminates
its internal queues, forcing them to be initialized afresh for
    transaction processing after the restart.
