APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Customer had a race condition with multiple CMASes being
    stopped and started at the same time. We SUSPECT that one CMAS
    was restarted while directory sync processing. This lead to the
    cache list entry being removed while the sync was active.

Local fix

  • An IPL was performed to resolve the issue.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICSPlex SM users *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Lack of serviceability data when a CMAS *
    *                      receives a shutdown notification from   *
    * another CMAS, while trying to perform *
    * data repository synchronisation to that *
    *                      CMAS.                                   *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF resolving this APAR to CMAS *
    * regions and restart. This can be done in *
    *                 any order.                                   *
    ****************************************************************
    This APAR adds extra diagnostics at the time a CMAS is informed
    that another CMAS is shutting down while performing DREP sync
    to the closing CMAS.

Problem conclusion

  • Code has been added to CPLT's processing of ENETDISC & ENETEXIT
    events to check if there is an outstanding ENETCONN / ENETJOIN
    in progress for the same remote CMAS. It does this by checking
    the in-use ASYNC areas for the disconnecting CMAS name.
