Error description
UNIX FILE BACKUP: When an empty directory that belongs to a Read Only filesystem is being backed up, the reftime cannot be updated. Upon next run of the java hbackup program, that same directory is selected for backup. This results in error message ARC1001I /empty/dir/ BACKDS FAILED, RC=0034, REAS=0094 HSM correctly issues the message, because there is an up to date backup already. The java hbackup should properly handle the situation when reftime wasn't updated due to the file system being mounted as RO (read only) and not select such empty directories that already have a current backup for another backup. Symbolic links, files and empty directories that reside in (read only)RO file systems having mount points for (read write) RW file systems, could be chosen for backup on every incremental backup despite not being changed. This results in ARC1001I xxxxxx BACKDS FAILED, RC=0034, REAS=0094 after the first backup had been taken. ADDITIONAL SYMPTOMS: If hbdelete is issued to delete the backups of a symbolic link, file or empty directory that are part of RO(read only) file system, the reftime is not updated back to 0(if it was different). This results in java hbackup not selecting them for a new backup, despite the fact that all backups were deleted. If the backup was done when the file system was mounted as RO, reftime would be 0 anyway and there is no problem, but if the backup was done when the filesystem was mounted RW, reftime would show the time of last backup, which could be a time after the last change. Java hbackup should handle this condition correctly.
