RGZPFM KEYFILE basic explanation

Question & Answer

Question

Can I get more information on RGZPFM's KEYFILE parameter?

Answer

RGZPFM command KEYFILE parameter.
*NONE v. *RPLDLTRCD at a high level / very basic illustration

File – original

Delete two rows: row 2 (Boy) and row 5 (Edward)

File now looks like this:

KEYFILE_After_Two_Rows_Removed

Two RGZPFM options compared in this TechNote

KEYFILE_*FILE_v_*RPLDLTRCD

In both versions of RGZPFM, the two ‘deleted’ rows have been moved to bottom of the table and RGZPFM will attempt to ‘cut’ off those rows.  (a few conditions apply)

The difference is how we got there.

RGZPFM with KEYFILE(*NONE)

Step 1: Row 3 (Charles) was moved to Row 2

Step 2: Row 4 (David) was moved to Row 3

Step 3: Row 6 (Frank) was moved to Row 4

Step 4: Row 7 (George) was moved to Row 5

Step 5: Row 8 (Henry) was moved to Row 6

Step 6: Row 9 (Ida) was moved to Row 7

Step 7: Row 10 (John) was moved to Row 8

RGZPFM with KEYFILE(*RPLDLTRCD)

Step 1: Row 10 (John) was moved to Row 2

Step 2: Row 9 (Ida) was moved to Row 3
