fn_setup_rdb -u Fails with 'sqlcmd.exe' and 'osql.exe' Not Recognized Errors After MSSQL 2019 Client Upgrade in FileNet IS

Troubleshooting


Problem

  • When fn_setup_rdb -u is executed, fn_msodbc returned an error that osql could not be executed.
  • sqlcmd.exe not always executed when osql.exe is missing.

Symptom

The following errors are reported in the elog
fn_msodbc: ERROR MSSQL Server Software was not installed on this home directory.

ERROR: The following error may mean SQL Server is not installed or
The SQL Server Tools\binn directory is missing from the environment PATH:
'sqlcmd.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
Operable program or batch file.
'osql' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
Operable program or batch file.
Please verify system configuration is correct.
