Why is the Edge Hold Time setting different than what is configured when looking in a configupload file?
Different FOS versions will show the Edge Hold Time value using different methods when using one of the 3 pre-defined EHT settings. There are 3 pre-defined settings.
0 = low (80 ms)
1 = medium (220 ms)
2 = high (500 ms)
If configuring the switch with a user defined EHT value, it must be between 80 and 500 ms, and would thus show the actual setting, for example, say 81 ms. If one of the pre-defined settings is used, the current value is displayed inconsistently between different FOS versions. When using pre-defined settings, some FOS versions will list the actual value (80 / 220 / 500) while other versions will simply show 0, 1 or 2. Some customers may be confused by the used of the setting which does not show the actual time since a "key reference" is not included in the output. Thus, a setting of 0 is really the low setting, or 80 ms while a setting of 2 is really the high value of 500 ms.
If looking in the text file created using the configupload command, the text is also susceptible to this display inconsistency. In one recent case, the expected output was
switch.edgeHoldTime:80
but the file actually displayed this line as
switch.edgeHoldTime:0
So, if the Edge Hold Time value displayed is 0, 1 or 2 (i.e. less than 80), then use the appropriate time value listed in the pre-defined settings shown above.
