Samba is used in IBM SONAS to enable file management and authentication services for Microsoft Windows environments.

CVEID: CVE-2016-2125
DESCRIPTION:
Samba could allow a remote authenticated attacker to gain elevated privileges on the system, caused by forwarding a Ticket Granting Ticket (TGT) to other service when using Kerberos authentication. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to impersonate the authenticated user and gain elevated privileges on the system.

CVEID: CVE-2016-2126
DESCRIPTION:
Samba could allow a remote authenticated attacker to gain elevated privileges on the system, caused by the failure of handling the PAC checksum. By using a specially-crafted Kerberos ticket, an authenticated attacker could exploit this vulnerability to gain privileges or cause the winbindd process to crash.

Affected Products and Versions

IBM SONAS
The product is affected when running a code releases 1.5.0.0 to 1.5.2.5

Remediation/Fixes

A fix for these issues is in version 1.5.2.6 of IBM SONAS. Customers running an affected version of SONAS should upgrade to 1.5.2.6 or a later version, so that the fix gets applied.
