Apple Push notifications enabled in an environment with no Internet access can slow the startup process of Cognos Analytics.

Troubleshooting


Problem

Cognos Analytics can take longer to start in an environment that has Apple Push Notifications enabled, but does not have access to the Internet.  

Symptom

Cognos Configuration can throw this warning in the Details window during a startup.
CFG-ERR-0106. IBM Cognos Configuraton received no response from the IBM Cognos service in the allotted time. Check that the IBM Cognos service is available and properly configured.
The following error is found in the cognosserver.log.
Trace.MOB Error during IAM token request: Connect to iam.cloud.ibm.com:443 [iam.cloud.ibm.com/IP_ADDR, iam.cloud.ibm.com/IP_ADDR, iam.cloud.ibm.com/IP_ADDR] failed: Connection timed out (Connection timed out):  com.cognos.mobile.server.apns.APNSPayloadManager
Where IP_ADDR is the IP Address that is being attempted to connect to.
