PH52867: GROOVY STEP FAILS WITH EDC5130I EXEC FORMAT ERROR

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Groovy step in UCD is failing with below error
  "EDC5130I Exec format error"
  
  If the error is encountered after an agent upgrade. This is
  because of change in shebang line in the newer
  "#!/usr/bin/env sh" instead of "#!/bin/sh" in files
  <GROOVY_HOME>/bin/groovy and <GROOVY_HOME>/bin/startGroovy
  

Local fix

• Add below export statement
  export _BPX_SPAWN_SCRIPT=YES
  in the <AGENT_HOME>/bin/setenv-zos.sh script file and restart
  the agent.
  

Problem summary

Problem conclusion

• This has been fixed in version 7.3.2.
  Environment variable _BPX_SPAWN_SCRIPT is set to YES in
  setenv-zos.sh file to resolve this issue.
  

Temporary fix

• Add below export statement
  export _BPX_SPAWN_SCRIPT=YES
  in the <AGENT_HOME>/bin/setenv-zos.sh script file and restart
  the agent.
