Storage systems must have active maintenance contracts to be monitored by IBM Storage Insights

Release Notes

Abstract

Starting in Q1 2023, IBM will check to ensure that storage systems monitored by IBM Storage Insights have active maintenance contracts. A storage system must have an active maintenance contract to be monitored in IBM Storage Insights. This requirement does not apply to IBM Storage Insights Pro.

If you monitor storage systems that don’t have active maintenance contracts, you’ll be notified. You'll then have 90 days to take action before the storage system is automatically removed from IBM Storage Insights.

Content

It’s important to monitor your maintenance contracts because when they expire, so does your ability to monitor the storage system with IBM Storage Insights. To address expired or soon-to-be expired maintenance contracts, check out these options:

  • To continue monitoring a storage system with an expired maintenance contract, you must extend its contract or upgrade to IBM Storage Insights Pro.
  • If you no longer need to monitor a storage system with an expired maintenance contract, remove it from IBM Storage Insights. If you don't manually remove the storage system, it's automatically removed 90 days after the contract expires.

Need help?

We know that things don't always go as planned. If you encounter any issues with extending maintenance contracts for devices or upgrading to IBM Storage Insights Pro, open a support case on the IBM Support page.
