Firmware FW1030.00 for Power10 scale-out and midrange models has been found to have a potential defect.
Please update to FW1030.01 as soon as possible.

The FW1030.00 firmware for Power10 scale-out and midrange models, which was provided in December 2022, has been found to have a potential defect.

This issue may occur within a month of operating on FW1030.00.

Therefore, please update the firmware to FW1030.01 as soon as possible.

※ The Power10 scale-up model E1080 is not applicable.

Target Power10 model

Power10 E1050, S1024, S1022, S1022s, S1014, L1024, L1022

Target firmware level

FW1030.00

※ Products that have downloaded and applied the applicable firmware from Fix Central or shipped around December 2022 are applicable. Fw1020 is not affected.

Event

This issue includes any of the following.

  • The power won't turn on (in a dormant state)

  • The operation panel is not displayed correctly

  • The SRC BD8D3404 is recorded in the error log

  • HMC's managed system becomes "not connected" or "incomplete"

Response method

Download and apply the firmware update (FW1030.01) from Fix Central.

If the IBM I environment is not managed by HMC, apply PTF MH01947.  If HMC is not managed in AIX/Linux environment, please apply firmware FW1030.01. If the system is under HMC management, please apply firmware FW1030.01 from HMC.

For instructions on how to apply the firmware, please refer to the guide from obtaining firmware to applying it in the IBM Documentation.(The following is the guide for S1014, but you can change the target product in the "change version" menu on the upper left of the destination screen.)
