V9000 - Data Collection

Question & Answer

Question

What Data needs to be collected for the V9000?

Answer

Data collection for FlashSystem V9000 is pretty much straight forward. The config node GUI manages all AC2 nodes (Control Enclosure) and also all AE2 nodes (Storage Enclosure) from a single GUI.

Tip:
The CE can place a text file on the USB stick (satask.txt) and add CLI commands to the text file.

If you have 'satask svcdump' in the text file, it will create a single snap and place it on the USB stick, once the stick is inserted in the AC2 control node.

Rule of thumb:
* 'Standard logs' (GUI1) data collection is sufficient for any hardware or storage enclosure related problem.
* 'Standard logs plus most recent statesave ... ' (GUI3) are recommended for any SVC suspected problem.

Typical V9000 SNAP size for a single building block configuration:

Option time required snap size
GUI1 - Standard Logs 10 min 250 MB
GUI 2 - ... plus one existing statesave 10 min 273 MB (+ 23 MB)
GUI 3 - ... plus one most recent statesave from each node 10 min 320 MB (+ 70 MB)
