Remediation/Fixes
For all TS7700 microcode levels greater than or equal to 8.21.0.63, contact IBM Service at 1-800-IBM-SERV to arrange for the application of VTD_EXEC.202 to remove SSLv3 support in the TS7700.
For microcode levels prior to 8.21.0.63, contact IBM Service at 1-800-IBM-SERV to arrange for an upgrade to level 8.21.0.63 or higher and the application of VTD_EXEC.202.
Workarounds and Mitigations
Disable support in all web browsers used to access the TS7700 Management Interface:
Mozilla Firefox
Either
- Install the Mozilla add-on called "SSL Version Control"
- Type about:config into the navigation bar and press [Enter]
- Accept the warning and proceed
- Search for tls
- Change the value of security.tls.version.min from 0 to 1 (0 = SSL 3.0; 1 = TLS 1.0)
Chrome
- Run Chrome with the following command-line flag: --ssl-version-min=tls1
Internet Explorer
- Go to Settings -> Internet Options -> Advanced Tab -> Uncheck "Use SSL 3.0" under "Security"
IBM recommends that you review your entire environment to identify areas that enable the SSLv3 protocol and take appropriate mitigation and remediation actions. The most immediate mitigation action that can be taken is disabling SSLv3.
Important note: IBM strongly suggests that all System z customers subscribe to the System z Security Portal to receive the latest critical System z security and integrity service. If you are not subscribed, see the instructions on the System z Security web site. Security and integrity APARs and associated fixes will be posted to this portal. IBM suggests reviewing the CVSS scores and applying all security or integrity fixes as soon as possible to minimize any potential risk.
