Vulnerability Details
CVEID:
CVE-2014-3505
CVE-2014-3506
CVE-2014-3507
CVE-2014-3508
CVE-2014-3509
CVE-2014-3510
CVE-2014-3511
DESCRIPTION:
OpenSSL is used in IBM SONAS for providing communication security by encrypting data being transmitted.
CVE-2014-3505
OpenSSL is vulnerable to a denial of service. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause the system to crash.
CVSS Base Score: 5
CVSS Vector: (AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P)
CVSS Temporal Score: See http://xforce.iss.net/xforce/xfdb/95163 for the current score
CVE-2014-3506
OpenSSL is vulnerable to a denial of service. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to consume an overly large amount of memory.
CVSS Base Score: 5
CVSS Vector: (AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P)
CVSS Temporal Score: See http://xforce.iss.net/xforce/xfdb/95160 for the current score
CVE-2014-3507
OpenSSL is vulnerable to a denial of service. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to leak memory and cause a denial of service.
CVSS Base Score: 5
CVSS Vector: (AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P)
CVSS Temporal Score: See http://xforce.iss.net/xforce/xfdb/95161 for the current score
CVE-2014-3508
OpenSSL could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to read information, using pretty printing output.
CVSS Base Score: 4.3
CVSS Vector: (AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N)
CVSS Temporal Score: See http://xforce.iss.net/xforce/xfdb/95165 for the current score
CVE-2014-3509
OpenSSL is vulnerable to a denial of service. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause a denial of service.
CVSS Base Score: 4.3
CVSS Vector: (AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P)
CVSS Temporal Score: See http://xforce.iss.net/xforce/xfdb/95159 for the current score
CVE-2014-3510
OpenSSL is vulnerable to a denial of service. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause the client to crash.
CVSS Base Score: 4.3
CVSS Vector: (AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P)
CVSS Temporal Score: See http://xforce.iss.net/xforce/xfdb/95164 for the current score
CVE-2014-3511
OpenSSL could allow a remote attacker to bypass security restrictions. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability using man-in-the-middle techniques to force a downgrade to TLS 1.0.
CVSS Base Score: 4.3
CVSS Vector: (AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:N)
CVSS Temporal Score: See http://xforce.iss.net/xforce/xfdb/95162 for the current score
Affected Products and Versions
IBM SONAS
The product is affected when running a code releases 1.3.0.0 to 1.4.3.4
Remediation/Fixes
A fix for these issues is in version 1.4.3.5 of IBM SONAS. Customers running an affected version of IBM SONAS should upgrade to 1.4.3.5 or a later version, so that the fix gets applied.
Workarounds and Mitigations
Although IBM recommends that you install a level of code with a fix for this vulnerability, you can mitigate, although not eliminate, your risk until you have done so by ensuring that all users who have access to the system are authenticated by another security system such as a firewall.
