The noted errors may trigger the threshold for medium errors in the Synthesized Predictive Failure Analysis (SPFA). When this threshold is triggered, the storage controller will fail the drive.

Solution
The fix for this issue is contained in the J3K3, or later, firmware that is available in the ESM/HDD 1.79, or later, firmware package or in the HDD 4.12, or later, firmware package.

This issue is caused by the drive reporting an incorrect sense key in the error message. Sense key-3 is used in the response, and logic related to sense key-3 is used by the SPFA logic to determine whether a drive should be failed.
The correct sense key to use in this error is sense key-b, which is not used by the SPFA logic. The drive would not have been failed had the correct sense key been reported.
