Summary

Current versions of SnapDrive for Windows and the other SnapManager products for Microsoft® do not support Data ONTAP 8.2 due to changes in the licensing infrastructure in the release.

Problem Description

Because of changes in the licensing infrastructure in Data ONTAP 8.2, the license-list-info ZAPI call used by the current versions of SnapDrive for Windows and the SnapManager products is no longer supported in Data ONTAP 8.2.  As a result, the current releases of these products will not work with Data ONTAP 8.2.

The SnapManager products mentioned below do not support ONTAP 8.2.

1.   SnapDrive for Windows 6.X and below
2.   SnapManager® for Exchange 6.X and below
3.   Single Mailbox Recovery® 6.X and below
4.   SnapManager for SQL® 6.X and below
5.   SnapManager for SharePoint® 7.x and below
6.   SnapManager for Hyper-V® 1.x
Workaround

For the complete list of affected Data ONTAP management software, specific versions, and alerts, see the Interoperability Matrix on the IBM Support site.

There is no workaround for this issue.

Solution

The upcoming releases of the products listed above is targeted for first quarter (Q1) 2014.  Customers are required to upgrade to later releases as soon as they are available in order to use manageability products with the Data ONTAP 8.2 release.
