Abstract
The NA04 drive firmware upgrade is recommended for the IBM® System Storage™ N series products using the affected FC drive part numbers in their disk shelves:
NA04 version (for FC drive part number 23R2964) in EXN2000 and N3700
NA04 version (for FC drive part numbers 23R2965 and 23R2966) in EXN2000/EXN4000 and N3700

Summary
Improvements have been introduced in drive firmware version NA04 to help reduce the potential of multiple bypassed drives, which may lead to system panic.
Affected Systems
All EXN2000/EXN4000 FC storage expansion units and N3700 storage systems using the Hard Disk Drives (HDD) listed in their disk shelves.

Recommendation
IBM recommends that customers upgrade the above-referenced drives to firmware version NA04 as soon as possible. Customers who do not install the drive firmware may have an increased potential for failure over longer periods of time.
As a recommended best practice, IBM hardware should always be updated with the latest version of firmware and software to facilitate reliability, availability, and serviceability.
