Problem
The Access Client Solutions Emulation Session prompts the user to save the session upon exit.
Symptom
Exiting an Access Client Solutions 5250 Emulation Session Prompts the user with the message: "ACS0020 - You have asked to close this session. Do you want to save the current configuration?"
Cause
The message "Do you want to save the current configuration?" is shown to the user when the the 5250 Emulation Session's "Save Settings on Exit" option is set to Prompt.
This typically occurs for one of two reasons:
- A new 5250 Emulation Session has been started to the system, and no Workstation Profile (.HOD file) has been previously saved. In this case, because no Exit Option was ever specified, the user is prompted.
- An existing Workstation Profile is used, and the Exit Option has been configured for the "Prompt" setting.
Diagnosing The Problem
The "Save Settings on Exit" option is only saved and honored when a Workstation Profile exists. If you create a new Emulation Session and have not previously saved it as a Workstation Profile, you can go to Edit > Preferences > Exit and change the "Save Settings on Exit" option to "Never". When you close the session, you will not be prompted. But the next time you open a session to the system, you will be prompted to save when you exit. This is because no Workstation Profile exists, so the "Save Settings on Exit" option was never actually saved.

Resolving The Problem
By default, the Access Client Solutions 5250 emulator will always save the session on exiting when a saved Workstation Profile is used. If you save a Workstation Profile, and do not change the "Save Settings on Exit" option, you will not be prompted to save it, and any changes you make to font size or other values will be saved. This is likely the desired setting.
To change the prompting for whether to save the session or not, on the menu bar go to Edit > Preferences > Exit and choose one of the following options:
Never - select to disregard any changes to the session profile when you close the session window.
Prompt - select to always be prompted to save or disregard changes made to the session profile when you close the session window.
Always - select to save any changes to settings into the session profile when you close the session window.
Never - select to disregard any changes to the session profile when you close the session window.
Prompt - select to always be prompted to save or disregard changes made to the session profile when you close the session window.
Always - select to save any changes to settings into the session profile when you close the session window.
Note: Even when Always is in effect, the settings are not saved unless changes have been made.
