Troubleshooting
Problem
Message PQT4139 is issued when trying to send an email through Infoprint Server using a mail router.
Resolving The Problem
Infoprint Server is configured to use the *LOCAL PDF Mail Server as a mail router rather than *SNDDST. When a spooled file is processed, message PQT4139 - Cannot connect to mail servers specified for device (C R) is issued and the e-mail is not sent. Using the PDF Mail Server as *SNDDST successfully sends the e-mail.
When using a mail router, the mail router must be able to identify the system that is sending the mail. In this case, the host table entry for the system did not include the long name for the system. It contained only the short name. The resolution is to add the long name for the system to the host table entry for the system.
To determine the long name, use the CFGTCP command and take Option 12 to Change TCP/IP domain information. Note the Host Name and Domain Name. The short name is the Host Name. The long name is the Host Name.Domain Name. For example, if a system's host name is S10xxxxx and the domain name is us.ibm.com, the short name is S10xxxxx and the long name is S10xxxxx.us.ibm.com.
To determine if the long name is in the host table entries, use the CFGTCP command and take Option 10 to Work with TCP/IP host table entries and locate the entry for the system. Is the long name listed under the Host Name column? If not, take Option 2 to Edit next to the entry and add the long name.
If the host table is configured correctly but the message still occurs, ensure that both MSF and SMTP are started:
