Problem

Use this document to upgrade server firmware on Operating System-Managed systems to SF240_403.

Resolving The Problem

This document applies to IBM System i products that have the Firmware Update Policy set to Operating System or to systems that are not managed by an HMC. The server firmware information in this document does not apply to Model 595 systems. Server firmware fixes are ordered (using the SNDPTFORD command or Fix Central) and installed as PTFs using operating system PTF installation functions. These PTFs have a prefix of MH and are ordered using the Marker PTF (including requisites).

If you are using Fix Central, specify Immediate download over the Internet (HTTP) and Mail order on CD-ROM if the total size exceeds the limits you selected above to receive the CD, or contact your service provider.

Order and apply the appropriate PTF (with requisites, where applicable) based on your operating system release:

Note: These PTFs are for POWER5 systems and require a system IPL for the code to take effect.
