IBM Support

IASP Status: Active versus Available

Troubleshooting

Problem

What is the difference between an IASP status of Active and Available?

Resolving The Problem

Active status indicates the vary-on is still in progress. The SLIC portion is complete and now it is performing database activity. During this state, SLIC and XPF can read and write to the IASP; however, end users cannot. This state may also indicate errors were encountered during the vary on. You should examine the vary on joblog for further problem determination.

Available status indicates the IASP is online and available for end user interaction.
