Error description

  • System monitoring collects all information about a cluster by
sending it to relevant nodes. It ignores cluster boundaries
while doing so which does not work and creates spurious error
    messages in the logs.

[I] For remote clusters, this node accepts minimum
    version
    5.0.0.0. [1800]
    [D] Node xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is at version 5.1.2.2. [2602]
    [D] Node xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx accepts minimum version 5.0.0.0.
    [1800]
[E] Node xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is incompatible because its
version (5.1.2.2) is less than the minimum compatible
version of this node (5.1.4.0). [2602/2800]
[E] Killing connection from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx because
    daemon
versions were not compatible, err 120

    Reported in:
    Spectrum Scale 5.1.4

Local fix

  • Ensure the nodes in the home cluster are at a level >= code
    level of the remote clusters

Problem summary

  • System monitoring collects all information about a cluster by
sending it to relevant nodes. It ignores cluster boundaries
while doing so which does not work and creates spurious error
    messages in the logs.

Problem conclusion

  • This problem is fixed in 5.1.6.1

    Fix solutions refer to page:
    https://public.dhe.ibm.com/storage/spectrumscale/spectrum_scale_
    apars.html

    Benefits of the solution:
No more error log entries like these:
[E] Killing connection from xx.xx.xx.xx because daemon versions
    were not compatible,err 120
[D] This node is at version 5.1.4.0. [2800]
[I]  For the local cluster, this node accepts minimum version
    5.1.4.0. [2800]
[I]   For remote clusters, this node accepts minimum version
    5.0.0.0. [1800]
    [D] Node 10.28.56.126 is at version 5.1.2.2. [2602]
    [D] Node 10.28.56.126 accepts minimum version 5.0.0.0. [1800]
[E] Node 10.28.56.126 is incompatible because its version
(5.1.2.2) is less than the minimum compatible version of this
    node (5.1.4.0). [2602/2800]

    Work Around:
Ensure the nodes in the home cluster are at a level >= code
    level of the remote clusters

    Problem trigger:
    Setup with remote cluster integration

    Symptom:
    Unexpected Results/Behavior
    Erroneous Log entries

    Platforms affected:
    ALL Linux OS environments

    Functional Area affected:
    System Health (mmfs.log.latest)

    Customer Impact:
Suggested: has little or no impact on customer operation
