What's new in IBM HACP Extended Edition v3.1

General Page

This document contains a brief description of the new and updated features in the IBM HACP Extended Edition v3.1 release.

HACP Extended Edition (HACP EE) v3.1 is developed with additional features that enhance the user experience.

The new and enhanced features are listed below:

New Usability features:

Enhancement to existing features:

New Usability features:

Migration Utility:

  • Migration Utility is a web component, and an alternative for traditional HOD added under the admin console of HACP EE. It allows the users to migrate HOD from its lower version to a higher version.
  • Migration includes Export, Import, and Rollback operations.
Enhancement to existing features:

DBCS Host Code Page:

DBCS Host Code Page is a double-byte character set. Each character is represented by a 16-bit value (two bytes) and takes two positions in the screen buffer.
New supported - DBCS Host Code Pages:
939 – Japan (Latin extended) - for 5250 and 3270 sessions.
1390 – Japanese (Katakana Unicode Extended; JIS 2004) - for 3270 sessions only.

Screen Timers:

In milliseconds, the nominal amount of time waits while analyzing outbound data using screen-settling strategies.

In the admin console module, users can customize screen timers.

  1. Minimum time to wait for the screen to settle: This value is the minimum screen-to-screen delay. A higher value increases the reliability of screen transformations in case of delays at the host due to long processing times or network delays.
  2. Maximum time to wait for the screen to settle: The minimum amount of time taken from the time communications are initiated with the host until trying to recognize an initial screen. This value can be decreased for fast networks to improve initial screen response time.

Keep-Alive Enhancement:

  • TCP Keep-Alive option is used to keep the session alive by enabling it. In addition, Telnet Keep-Alive is introduced to set the timing with different types of communication between client and server to keep the session alive.
  • The Telnet Keep-Alive come up with two additional options, Keep-Alive Type and Keep-Alive Timeout(seconds).

Fixes for Internal Defects:

This release contains fixes for internal defects for improving the product quality.

Instructions for Usage:
  1. Deploy the given .ear file to the Application Server, along with the features.
  2. Access the HACP EE config-based, HTML-based, and combined-based model pages from any compatible browser except the IE browser.
