Using BRMS to Perform Full System Saves on Systems with Independent Auxiliary Storage Pools (iASP)

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document explains how to save a system that has Independent Auxiliary Storage Pools defined.

Resolving The Problem

This document explains how to save a system that has Independent Auxiliary Storage Pools defined.

When a system has Independent Auxiliary Storage Pool(s) or iASPs defined, the *SYSTEM control group will not save them. In order to save the iASP data, the *SYSTEM control group must be copied to another control group or a new control group must be created, and the following must be added:

*ALLUSR iASPname
*LINK iASPname

The final control group entries could look something similar to the following:

10  *EXIT
20  *SAVSYS
30  *IBM
40  *ALLUSR *SYSBAS
50  *ALLUSR iASPname1
60  *ALLUSR iASPname2
70  *ALLDLO
80  *LINK *SYSBAS
90  *LINK iASPname1
100 *LINK iASPname2
110 *EXIT
