Troubleshooting

Problem

Instructions for data collection when receiving errors using the Operational Assistant Cleanup application, also known as automatic or system cleanup.

Resolving The Problem

PTF listings:
DSPPTF OUTPUT(*PRINT)
WRKPTFGRP then press F6=Print
Firmware status:
DSPFMWSTS OUTPUT(*PRINT)
Messages from the history log regarding the cleanup process:
DSPLOG PERIOD((*AVAIL 'XX/XX/XX')) OUTPUT(*PRINT) MSGID(CPF1806 CPA1E01 CPC1E1D CPF1E23 CPI1E92 CPC1E1A)
**Where 'XX/XX/XX' is the Beginning Date.  Specify this date as four or five days prior to the current date so several days are included in the output.
System values:
WRKSYSVAL SYSVAL(*ALL) OUTPUT(*PRINT)
QSYSOPR messages:
DSPMSG MSGQ(QSYSOPR) OUTPUT(*PRINT)
QSYSSCD job log:
WRKJOB JOB(QSYSSCD) and note the Active Job Number
DSPJOBLOG JOB(NNNNNN/QPGMR/QSYSSCD) OUTPUT(*PRINT)
**Where NNNNNN is the active job number
The QPGMR user profile;
DSPUSRPRF USRPRF(QPGMR) OUTPUT(*PRINT)
The cleanup job logs:
Maximize the message logging level for the  QPGMR job description in QGPL library:
CHGJOBD JOBD(QGPL/QPGMR) LOG(4 00 *SECLVL) LOGCLPGM(*YES)
Force the cleanup process to run to recreate the failure:
GO CLEANUP option 4. End cleanup, or issue the ENDCLNUP command
GO CLEANUP option 3. Start cleanup immediately, or issue the STRCLNUP OPTION(*IMMED) command
*NOTE:  Be sure to restart cleanup at the scheduled time, which is the last step below
Locate the job logs:
WRKSPLF SELECT(QPGMR *ALL *ALL QCLN*)
The following job logs should be found:
                                                 Device or
File                   User              Queue                User Data
QPJOBLOG    QPGMR       QEZJOBLOG   QCLNCRITMS
QPJOBLOG    QPGMR       QEZJOBLOG   QCLNSYSMSG
QPJOBLOG    QPGMR       QEZJOBLOG   QCLNUSRPGM
QPJOBLOG    QPGMR       QEZJOBLOG   QCLNUSRMSG
QPJOBLOG    QPGMR       QEZJOBLOG   QCLNSYSPRT
QPJOBLOG    QPGMR       QEZJOBLOG   QCLNSYSLOG
Optionally, change the message logging level for the QPGMR job description in library QGPL:
CHGJOBD JOBD(QPGMR) LOG(4 00 *NOLIST) LOGCLPGM(*NO)
Restart cleanup for the scheduled time:
GO CLEANUP and select option 2. Start cleanup at scheduled time, or issue the STRCLNUP command

Send the PTF listings, firmware status, history log messages, system values, QSYSOPR messages, QSYSSCD and cleanup job logs to the IBM i Global Support Center for review and further problem determination.
