APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Manually using 'yum localinstall' or 'yum install' instead of
'yum upgrade' causes the RPM to be not included the 'spp' group.

When upgrading to a newer version, the RPMs which were not
included in the 'spp' group won't get upgraded.

The issue can be confirmed by issuing this command and looking
for the rpm packages that did not get upgraded:
    yum groupinfo spp

If the rpm packages that did not get upgraded are not in the
list then the issue has been encountered.

    Versions affected:
    10.1.9 and earlier

Local fix

  • If the system has Internet access, upgrade the packages which
did not get upgraded and then mark the specific package to
belong to the 'spp' group, by running the following command as
    root:
yum group mark packages spp <package-name>
