IBM InfoSphere Information Server installation reports numerous messages related to `which' command

Troubleshooting


Problem

The installation log contains numerous messages related to the `which' command. For example,

      /bin/sh: which: line 1: syntax error: unexpected end of file

Similar errors might also be seen during patch/upgrade installations, new installs, or append installs.

Symptom

The installation log contains:

INFO: CDIIN2753I:Command Array: /bin/sh -c ls -l /opt/IBM/InformationServer/__ibm__test.txt | awk {'print ($3)'}, env = [inherited], workingDir =null

INFO: Exit Code: 0, Info: root ,  /bin/sh: which: line 1: syntax error: unexpected end of file

/bin/sh: error importing function definition for `which'
