Question & Answer
Question
How can I tell if VIO Server ioslevel is compatible with my system firmware, HMC or AIX levels? I have sysplanar0 errors in my error report. I have errors on my vscsi devices.
Cause
Incompatible system environments may cause problems between the VIOS and the hardware performance. System firmware is backwards compatible with VIOS but VIOS is not backwards compatible with lower levels of system firmware.
Answer
Higher levels of VIOS require newer levels of system firmware for optimal performance.
