FTP an image file from TESTCASE to an IBM i System Directory

Troubleshooting


Problem

If it is necessary for IBM i Customers to download installation images from IBM FTP site: testcase.boulder.ibm.com, the following detailed steps are provided.

Resolving The Problem

1. Sign on to the IBM i system with user profile QSECOFR

2. Make an Integrated File System (IFS) directory on the IBM i system.

For Example: MD DIR('/test')

3. Enter the following command to FTP (file transfer protocol) in order to connect to the IBM site:

Ftp testcase.boulder.ibm.com

4. Sign on with the user identification of anonymous.

NOTE: IBM will remove anonymous login at some point. Refer to this URL for information to obtain an IBM ID and password :

5. Enter your email address for the password. Refer above to anonymous login.

6. At the FTP prompt, enter namefmt 1

7. At the FTP prompt, enter bin

8. At the FTP prompt, enter cd fromibm/os400

9. At the FTP prompt, enter dir

10. Identify the image file you are to download.

11. At the command prompt, enter the command to change the local directory on the IBM i to the directory created in step 2.

For example: LCD /test

12. At the command prompt, enter the command to begin the file transfer from testcase to your IBM i.

For example: get I_Base_01_RSR_R710.iso

13. Verify all the bytes were transferred.

14. At the command prompt, enter: quit

15: Verify the file exists on your system.

For Example: wrklnk '/test'

Take option 5=Display next to the directory and verify the file is found.

16. Continue with adding the image to your image catalog.
