Problem

How to gather the Tape Flight Recorders using the QMGTOOLS data collection tool

Resolving The Problem


Verify if QMGTOOLS is installed by checking to see if library QMGTOOLS exists: WRKLIB QMGTOOLS
If QMGTOOLS is not installed please install it.
If QMGTOOLS is installed verify that the build is current:

Once installed and updated to the current build level, you can gather the Tape Flight Recorders by executing:
Running the Collection
1. Issue the ADDLIBLE LIB(QMGTOOLS) command.
2. Issue the command GO MG command to access the main QMGTOOLS menu.
3. Select Option 13 - Check IBM for updated QMGTOOLS, and update QMGTOOLS to the current level
4. Select Option 8 - Save/Restore.
5 Select Option 3 - Dump tape flight recorder (QTADMPDV)
6. Put in the tape device name that you are creating the dump against, for example TAPMLBxx
7. Take the rest of the defaults unless you prefer to place the data into a different library.
Sending in the Data
When the collection is finished, you will see a message in your interactive joblog that will
tell you the name of the save file that was created and contains your collection.
