This document will answer the question, "When does support for IAS Versions 7.1 & 8.1 and IWS Versions 1.3 & 1.5 end?"
Answer
Support has been withdrawn for the Integrated Application Server (IAS) version 7.1 and 8.1 and Integrated Web Services (IWS) version 1.3 and 1.5. Please refer to the IBM document, https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/official-support-statement-ibm-integrated-web-services-iws-and-integrated-application-server-ias-servers-ibm-i-os, for the official support statement from IBM regarding IAS and IWS on the IBM i OS.
Servers based on IAS v7.1 and IWS v1.3 will continue to run on IBM i 7.1 and are NOT supported at IBM i 7.2 and later.
Servers based on IAS v8.1 and IWS v1.5 will NOT FUNCTION on IBM i 7.2 and are NOT supported at IBM i 7.3 and later. Refer to the IBM Security Bulletin, https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/security-bulletin-ibm-i-components-are-affected-cve-2021-4104-log4j-version-1x, for further information on this.
Any problems you encounter with these server versions will require you to redeploy the application/web service to IAS v8.5 or IWS v2.6. Customers are highly encouraged to transition to IAS v8.5 and IWS v2.6 as soon as possible.
If you are currently running IWS v1.3/1.5 or IAS v7.1/8.1; IBM highly recommends you upgrade to IWS v2.6 or IAS v8.5 BEFORE you upgrade to IBM i 7.3 or later. Refer to the following document for further information regarding an IWS migration, How To Migrate Your IBM Integrated Web Services (IWS) Server From v1.3/v1.5 to v2.6. For the IAS product, there is no direct migration method. You would need to create a new IAS v8.5 server, re-deploy your applications, and setup the necessary configurations.
