AIX® CIFS client (bos.cifs_fs.rte) end of support statement.

Answer

As of AIX 7.2, the AIX CIFS client (bos.cifs_fs.rte) is no longer supported. For AIX 7.2, it was moved to the AIX 7.2 Expansion Pack and is provided "as-is", without support. There is no version of cifs_fs for AIX 7.3.
A new CIFS/SMB client, smbc, is available with support for SMB2 and SMB3, Kerberos authentication, packet signing, and packet encryption. It is fully supported on AIX 7.2 and 7.3, and can be downloaded from the AIX Web Download Pack Programs site at https://www.ibm.com/resources/mrs/assets?source=aixbp. The offering name is SMB client for AIX. Instructions for installing and configuring it can be found in the SMBC_Configuration PDF on the same download page as the smbc.rte fileset or at https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/1275148.
