APAR status

Error description

  • When using mmcrcluster (or likely mmaddnode) with a
hostname that resolves to over 64 characters in length,
various failures can occur during creation.

Local fix

  • Force hostnames to be under 64 characters long

Benefits of the solution:
Long hostnames are now reliably creatable

Work Around:
Force hostnames to be under 64 characters long
Problem trigger
Long hostnames (e.g. from /etc/hosts) during node creation
