Problem
Why are reserves being issued for ARCAUDIT, ARCBACK, ARCGPAL, and ARCUPDT in DFSMShsm when the environment is CDSQ=Y and CDSR=N?
Symptom
Monitoring GRS enqueue reserves to prepare for a GDPS implementation, customer found that DFSMShsm was issuing RESERVEs for the following resources:
ARCAUDIT
ARCAUDIT
ARCBACK
ARCGPAL
ARCUPDT.
The DFSMShsm Implementation and Customization Guide indicate with CDSQ=Y, CDS=R that a reserve would not be issued.

Diagnosing The Problem
In reviewing the module that issues the reserve, confirmed that DFSMShsm was issuing a RESERVE=TEST to see whether HSM had the reserve on the resource. This particular processing has been done for many years.
Reviewed the customer's GRS records and confirmed that DFSMShsm was doing RESERVE=TEST to see whether it had the resource.
Resolving The Problem
Applications issuing a RESERVE=TEST do not trigger an error event in GDPS. The RESERVE=TEST can be ignored.
