IT41875: SQL SERVER DATABASE BACKUP GETS STUCK AT "WAITING FOR REMOTE CREATION TO COMPLETE ON SERVER xxx" AND CANNOT BE CANCELLED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• SQL Server windows server is restarted in the middle of SQL
  server database backup. Then the backup job gets stuck at
  "Waiting for remote operation to complete on server <sql-server
  host> and cannot be cancelled. IBM Spectrum Protect Plus does
  not detect sppagent service stop, and keeps tracking the process
  with old process ID.
  
  Versions affected: IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.*

Problem conclusion

• This problem has been fixed so that after SQL backup job is
