PH48339: ACCELERATOR STAY FLATLINE DURING AUTOMATED DB2, DDF AND ACCELERATOR START, IF USS AND TCPIP ARE NOT YET COMPLETELY STARTED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• IBM Db2 Analystics Accelerator stay FLATLINE and queries can not
  be offloaded if DDF and Accelerator services starting while USS
  and TCPIP are not completely up. The situation happens during
  automated IPL. Messages in the Db2 MSTR log can be like that:

  Sysparms for starting DDF=AUTO and ACCEL=AUTO are set.
  Accelerator related Stored Procedures are running fine, but any
  query offload to IDAA is not possible.

  Db2 may issue the DSNL511I message when starting Db2 with
  subsystem parameters ACCEL=AUTO and DDF=AUTO. Additionally
  the -DISPLAY ACCEL command shows a FLATLINE state.
  A -STOP ACCEL followed by a -START ACCEL command has no effect.
  Restarting DDF allows Db2 to connect successfully to the
  Accelerator.
  This error is due to a timing window when Db2 attempts to start
  a heartbeat connection to the Accelerator before TCPIP is ready
  to process connections.
  

Problem conclusion

• Db2 has been corrected to check that TCPIP is ready to accept
  connections before starting the Accelerator heartbeat
  connection.
