Abstract
On a freshly configured system or a newly added logical partition (LPAR), when you try to start the LPAR with the Dedicated Processor configuration (Minimum, Desired, or Maximum) set to 240, the LPAR enters an error state with the reference code “B2008105 LP=00003.”
Content
Linux Releases Affected
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 15, Service Pack 4
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.6
IBM Systems Affected
IBM Power System 9080-HEX
Symptoms
During Linux Grub CAS negotiation with the Power Hypervisor (PHYP), the LPAR errors out.
Before you start the first LPAR, go to the processor tab on the LPAR profile and set the Minimum Processor setting to 192. You can still set the Desired and Maximum settings to 240. After the LPAR has started successfully, you can set the Minimum Processor setting back to 240. This issue is seen only during the first LPAR startup.
Fix Outlook
Linux Grub changes to support Maximum Processor during CAS Negotiation are being worked on and will be included in future releases.
I/O Device Impacted
