Abstract
This fix pack is a cumulative fix release and addresses some new APARs and internally found issues since the release of Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus 8.1.0 Fix Pack 29.
Download Description
Java 8 Important Information
This upgrade uninstalls the existing IBM Java 7 and installs the latest version of the IBM Java 8 JRE. If any of the Java 7 files were modified since the v8.1 installation, then these modified files are removed during the upgrade process, except for the java.security file. Before you perform the upgrade, back up these modified files to a private location, then after the upgrade reapply the modifications. The Java 8 java.security file has significant differences to the Java 7 java.security file. Review the default Java 8 java.security file and update it to comply with the existing settings in the Java 7 java.security file.
IBM Java 8 does NOT run on some older versions of operating systems, which include the following operating systems:
- AIX 6.1 before Tech Level 9
- Older versions of Linux (due to a GLIBC 2.7 requirement)
- Solaris SPARC 32 bit (IBM Java on Solaris SPARC is 64 bit only)
The following defect solution is included in this release:
Following an upgrade to Omnibus fix pack 29 (8.1.0.29), MIB Manager failed and terminated with a Java NullPointerException. This failure was due to cached configuration data for the version of Eclipse used by MIB Manager. This problem is fixed.
DT160248 IJ42362
To address possible security issues, the JRE for Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus V8.1.0 is updated to IBM JRE 8.0 SR7 FP15.
DT160251 IJ41075
Due to an error in the MIB Manager wrapper script, the correct environment for running MIB Manager on SUSE Linux for System z was not created. The use of GTK3 libraries was not disabled. This problem is fixed.
DT160252 IJ41077
Due to an error in the MIB Manager batch wrapper script, the correct environment for running the MIB Manager batch utility on Windows was not created. This problem is fixed.
DT160379 IJ41840
The Jetty libraries, included in the MIB Manager component, are updated to Jetty 9.4.48. This upgrade addresses potential security issues.
DT160639
The documentation on "Configuring the JRE for FIPS 140-2" is updated to reflect that the RSASSA-PSS and RSAPSS algorithms must be added to jdk.tls.disabledAlgorithms setting in the java.security file. These algorithms are not supported by some security providers and could result in connection failures from Java clients to the Netcool/OMNIbus ObjectServer.
DT168534
APAR IJ33457 in Omnibus 8.1.0.26 added an extension to the ObjectServer schema to support Web GUI High Availability (HA). That schema is now extended to also support Wires and Transformations.
Systems that previously deployed the Web GUI HA can upgrade the existing schema by applying the code in:
$NCHOME/extensions/webha/update/update81fp26to81fp30
Refer to the product documentation for detailed instructions on implementing an upgrade.
The fix complements Web GUI 8.1.0.27 and DASH 3.1.3.15.

If your computer has internet access and you have an IBM Passport Advantage account, you can update packages directly from Passport Advantage.
1. Start Installation Manager.
2. Under the Preferences option, select Repositories and make sure the "Search service repositories during installation and updates" is checked.
3. Select the update option and select the "IBM Tivoli NetcoolcOMNIbus" entry from the list of packages to find updates for.
Extract the Fixpack into a new temporary directory, then specify the repository in the preferences before you update. Each package must be extracted into a new directory.
1. Start Installation Manager.
2. Under the Preferences option, select Repositories and add a repository. Give the location of the extracted OMNIbusRepository/composite directory.
3. Select the update option and select the "IBM Tivoli Netcool OMNIbus" entry from the list of packages to find updates for.
If you downloaded the ESD for Fix Pack 30, then:
1. Create a directory to store the files and extract the contents of the .zip file into this directory.
2. After you installed Installation Manager either with Administrator or Nonadministrator mode, run the update_gui script to launch Installation Manager into the update panel without the requirement of configuring the update repository.
