Problem

Attempts to save a project in IBM® Engineering Requirements Management DOORS® Next after a process change results in "Project area cannot be saved - duplicate permissions operation id specified: com.ibm.rrs.setValidity".

Cause

The cause of the error is duplicated permissions, which are invalid.

Diagnosing The Problem

Download the process template and review the contents and confirm there's a duplicate.  
  1. Go to the manage project area page
  2. In the upper right portion of the page, click the Export Process Template icon
    Export Process Template Icon
  3. Enter the ID, for the name of the file download.
  4. Click OK to export the process template.
  5. Extract the .zip file and locate specification.txt and open it with a text editor.
  6. Find the permission in the error message.  In this example, com.ibm.rrs.setValidity is duplicated.

Resolving The Problem

There is a utility named ProjectCheck, which can detect the duplicates and perform a repair.
Reach out to IBM support for this ProjectCheck utility.  
After the duplicates are repaired, make the wanted changes in the project area and save.
