APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Unexpected exception behaviour is seen with an application
compiled with xlclang++ and using optimization. The issue does
not occur when no optimization is used.

The execution of the code appears to throw an exception, however
no exception is actually thrown - instead the execution proceeds
into the exception handling 'catch' block incorrectly.

Local fix

  • Do not use optimization.

Problem summary

  • PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Incorrect branch to exception handling code when no exception
    has occurred.

    USERS AFFECTED:
Some xlclang++ users with C++ exception handling code and using
    optimization

Problem conclusion

  • The branch optimization causing the problem was corrected, and
    the issue was resolved.

Temporary fix
