Error description

  • When access GPFS inode, os kernel crashed in kernel
structure inode->i_link

Problem summary

  • On linux, kernel crash may occur after open()
with O_CREAT flag and the file has been opened already.

Problem conclusion

  • Benefits of the solution:
No more Linux kernel crash.

Work Around: Avoid using open() with O_CREAT flag

Problem trigger:
Using open() with O_CREAT flag on system with linux kernel 3.10
or higher.

Symptom: Kernel crash

Platforms affected: ALL Linux OS environments

Functional Area affected: All Scale Users

Customer Impact: Critical
