Adding a symbolic link to access drives

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document describes how to assign a drive the ability to access the Integrated File System (IFS) root documents, as well as how to access QDLS (Document Library Services) file system documents.

Resolving The Problem

To assign a drive, for instance the K: drive, the ability to access IFS root documents, as well as to access QDLS file system documents:

    1. Add a symbolic link to the QDLS documents.
    2. Assign the network drive to the lowest common denominator, the IFS root-file system.

To do this:
    1. Type ADDLNK and press F4
    2. Type /QDLS/XXXXXXXX for "Object" and XXXXXXXX for "New link",
where XXXXXXXX is the object directory, that is, the folder name from WRKFLR

For example, to access the images in SUBDIREC.001 of EKDFLD01 from the K: drive, add a link where "Object" is /QDLS/EKDFLD01 and "New Link" is EKDFLD01.
