Error description
When the z/OS Connect instance is stopped/started we get the abend in the BBOATRUE running in CICS at the time of the WOLA rebind. z/OS Connect 2.0.7, WLP 16.0.0.3, Angel version 5 IEA794I SVC DUMP HAS CAPTURED: 260 DUMPID=010 REQUESTED BY JOB (XXXXXXX) DUMP TITLE=COMPON=WEBSPHERE Z/OS, COMPID=5655I3500, ID=server_wola_client_rebind.wolaClientRebind()
Local fix
A work around is to stop the CICS region (or stop the WOLA connection) before stopping/restarting z/OS Connect. Then restart CICS (or WOLA connection).
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server Liberty for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An SVCDUMP occurs when a WOLA client * * such as CICS attempts to re-connect to * * a Liberty server that has been * * restarted. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** A client such as CICS might maintain a connection to a Liberty server using WOLA for a long period of time. If that Liberty server is recycled, the client can automatically re-connect to the new instance of that server when it is restarted. The WOLA CICS link server that ships with Liberty is one example of a client that does this. In some cases, if the Liberty server cannot process new connection requests quickly after it is restarted, the client may produce an SVCDUMP. The client should retry the connection attempt rather than take an SVCDUMP.
Problem conclusion
Code was added to the WOLA CICS link server to be more tolerant of timeouts that can occur when establishing connections between a WOLA client and Liberty server. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 17.0.0.2.
