Error description

  • Via the CICS CM ISPF online dialog, change packages are listed

using a filter Scheme like "P*". Upon display return,

use NEXT (default F10) to scroll to the alternative view that

displays the change package Description column, that is panel

CCVPPM1L. Exit the CICS CM online dialog.

Upon next entry into the CICS CM ISPF online dialog, the
    listing

of change packages returns to the CCVPPM1L panel, which shows

the Descriptions. However, when enter is pressed the

ISPF error is displayed for Filter Scheme. As Filter Scheme

is not displayed on the panel, it cannot be viewed or
    corrected.

Panel CANCEL (default F12), will exit the change package list,

but any return into the change packages list suffers the same

    error.

The CCVPPM1L panel included a values check for Filter Scheme,

but the masking characters "+" and "*" were omitted from the

    list of acceptable characters: (i.e. A-Z 0-9 $ @ # _ - +
    *).

    The problem only appears when

     (1) Filter Scheme includes a masking character "+" or "*";

     (2) The first panel for the packages list display is CCVPPM1L.

Therefore, if you exit the change package list on a screen other

than the one showing Description, the problem does not occur

    on next entry.

Panel CCVPPM1L should not validate Filter Scheme, because it

is not a filter input field for the panel. A review of the
    related

panels CCVPPM1K, CCVPPM1L and CCVPPM1M will also be

done, and other similar cases where validations are performed

for fields not on the panel, those validations will be removed.

Local fix

  • To circumvent the problem, users must delete their ISPF profile

member CCVOPROF, and thereafter resume with a new profile.

Problem conclusion

  • CICS Configuration Manager is corrected. The erroneous
validation logic for the Filter Scheme in panel CCVPPM1L has
been removed; it omitted "+" and "*" as acceptable Filter Scheme
values. As panel CCVPPM1L does not provide an input field for
Filter Scheme, validation for entered values is inappropriate.
