IBM Maximo MRO Inventory Optimisation - What happens when a user overrides MRO IO recommendations?

Question & Answer

Question

What happens when a user overrides MRO Inventory Optimization recommendations?

Answer

MRO Inventory Optimization calculates the best economic solution for the stocking levels based on the information it has to minimize risk and meet expected demand.

If values are changed manually that influence the solution, upon recalculating the stocking levels can change to suit the new data. These new stocking level values can be exported to the ERP. With the next data extract from the client ERP to MRO Inventory Optimization the new stocking values will become the ERP current values. If no further changes have occurred, then the current and recommended stocking levels are the same

The MRO Inventory Optimization solution cannot overwrite or reset forced values such as ROP or ROQ methods, manually set lead times or issues sizes, etc. Such manually set values need to be reviewed frequently to see whether they still hold true and continue to influence the result else they can be removed and allow MRO Inventory Optimization to optimize the solution.
