Summary
There is a vulnerability in the Dojo library used by IBM WebSphere Application Server traditional in the Admin Console and used by the IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty with the adminCenter-1.0 feature enabled that allows arbitrary code to be executed in the browser. The adminCenter-1.0 feature is currently installed by the APM V8.1.4.0 Custom Views component but is not used. It can be manually removed.

CVEID: CVE-2021-23450
DESCRIPTION: Dojo could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system, caused by a prototype pollution in the setObject function. By sending a specially-crafted request, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on the system.

Workarounds and Mitigations
Complete these steps on the APM V 8.1.4.0 Server system:
1. Log onto the APM V8.1.4.0 Server system as the root user and change directory to the location of the Custom Views server.xml file (the following assumes the APM Server was installed into /opt/ibm):
# cd /opt/ibm/wlp/usr/servers/uviews
2. Save the original server.xml
# cp server.xml server.xml.backup
3. Open the server.xml file in an editor and remove the following line from the <featureManager> ……. </featureManager> list of features.
<feature>adminCenter-1.0</feature>
4. Save the file.
5. Restart the Custom Views application:
# apm restart uviews
