Abstract

The soft lockups and RCU locks stall because of the CPUs stuck at the smp_call_function() command during the DLPAR memory move operations.

Symptoms
The soft lockups and read copy update (RCU) locks stall because of the central processing units (CPUs) stuck at the smp_call_function() command during the DLPAR memory move operations.
No major issues are seen in DLPAR operations due to these soft lockups. The LPAR does not fail or hang and is usable.
Workaround
No resolution is available for this issue currently. The soft lockup messages can be discarded since it does not impact the functions of the DLPAR operations and the LPAR does not fail or hang and is usable.
