Abstract
This paper provides performance information for the IBM TS7770 and TS7770T, which are two of the three current products in the TS7700 family of storage products. This paper is intended for use by IBM field personnel and their customers in designing virtual tape solutions for their applications.
This is an update to the previous TS7700 paper dated March 15, 2022 and reflects changes for release 5.3. R5.3 is only supported on VED models and requires 128GB of memory. Major new function and improvements delivered with release 5.3 include:
- Expansion of overall system capacity for all Flash TS7700 by adding 2 additional XFC SSD cache expansion drawers (268.2TB net)
- Support for object data (feature code 5283) on a TS7700C cloud attached cluster
- Introduction of REST API
- Introduction of feature code 5995 zTape Air Gap
- Consolidation of machine types from 3952, 3956 and 3957 to a single new machine type 3948
- Introduction of Expert Care services for the TS7770
