PH43215: MSIF MIGHT CALCULATE A WRONG MESSAGE DIGEST ON ZIP FILES

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• MSIF receives a FileAct request transferring a ZIP file that
  should be unpacked and forwarded to a business application.
  Basically, MSIF calculates the message digest on all received
  files and compares it to the specified message digest in the
  corresponding FileAct request. If the received ZIP file contains
  beside zipped entries also additional trailing data (directory
  headers), then MSIF might calculate a wrong digest and report a
  digest mismatch to the business application.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• If MSIF receives a FileAct request transferring a ZIP file that
  should be unpacked and forwarded to a business application, and
  the file contains, beside zipped entries, also additional
  trailing data (directory headers), then a wrong digest might be
  calculated and a digest mismatch is reported to the business
  application.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been fixed, and MSIF calculates the correct
  message digest for all kind of ZIP files.
