Troubleshooting
Problem
The HMC reported a memory alert on the HMC with SRC E212E114. Physical appliances call home the SRC if enabled, virtual appliances log the error in serviceable events but do not call home.
Symptom
A memory alert was triggered exceeding the threshold during normal operation of the HMC.
Cause
Various causes could contribute to the memory alert being reported by the HMC depending on the version and type or model of HMC.
Environment
Version 9 Any Release or Service Pack level
7042 or 7310 Machine Types
7063 Machine Type
Any virtual appliance for x86 or ppc
Diagnosing The Problem
A callhome event will report E212E114. The user might not experience any symptom or might experience slower or delayed responses from the HMC when running for a long duration of time without a reboot.
Resolving The Problem
There are two releases in version 9. There are known issues with this SRC in both releases for version 9.
If you are running V9R1, the code went end of fix support as of 09/30/2021. Depending on the model of HMC you may be able to upgrade to V9R2.

If your model cannot upgrade to V9R2, fixes are available for this SRC, be sure you are running the latest in V9R1.
